Panthers End Rough Week
Thursday, January 6, the Manteno Panthers Girls Basketball Team lost to the Herscher Tigers, 40-49, in a conference game at Herscher.
Despite the fact Manteno out-rebounded their opponent 26 – 19 and sank more free throws – 64 percent to 42 percent, the Tigers also had some good stats of their own.
Herscher came away with more steals (17-12), while recording less than half of Manteno’s turnovers (15-33). The Tigers put those turnovers to good use, resulting in 30 important points.
For the Panthers, Katherine Gaffney was the only scorer in double digits, recording 11 points, along with 5 rebounds. Teammates Drew Hosselton, Kylie Saathoff, and Chloee Boros each added 7 to the total, while Grace Sundeen chipped in 4, and Alexa Willis and Ashtyn Wischnowski each finished with 2.
On the season, the Panthers are 5-9 overall and 2-5 in ICE.
